John Keast - Professional Artist
John
Keast is an Algoma artist whose studio is in the village of Rydal Bank,
near Bruce Mines. Many of his oil paintings reflect the rugged
Northern Ontario landscape from Lake Superior to the La Cloche Country
at Killarney, subjects made famous in the 1920's by the Group of Seven.
Keast
is an impressionist who is intrigued by gardens, rivers, and the
shimmering quality of light. This is most evident in his paintings
of Ireland, the Greek Islands and the sub-Arctic.
For
over 20 years, John has taught Landscape Painting at Sault College and
he is also a founding member of the Four and Friends Exhibition in Bruce
Mines. His works appear in private and corporate collections in
Canada, the United States, and Europe.
Keast's
work is shown at an annual June exhibit in Rydal Bank and an annual
March exhibition in Sudbury.
