Currently the businesses in Bruce Mines and area (Plummer Additional, Thessalon, Desbarats (Johnson Twp.)) are primarily resource (agriculture, forestry, aggregate) or tourist oriented with some of them also providing for residents (groceries, banking, household and hardware, etc.). However, there is much opportunity for the enterprising entrepreneur or artisan to take advantage of the ideal highway location (Trans Canada Highway 17 goes through downtown Bruce Mines) for shipping purposes (e.g., internet based sales business) and/or to attract highway customers. |
