Artisans & Arts Shows |
From artists to woodworkers, Bruce Mines and surrounding area is blessed with abundant artistic talent among our artisans. Every year the Bruce Mines and Area Chamber of Commerce hosts an art show, Four and Friends where four local artists each invite four friends to display their art for show and sale. Also, the Sylvan Circle Artist/Artisan Tour, organized by a group of artisans, is on September 13th this year. This tour takes visitors along Highway 638 through the Sylvan Valley, the villages of Leeburn and Ophir, around Rock Lake and Ottertail Lake and to Highway 17 East at Bruce Mines for workshop and showroom visits of each participating artisan. |

Four & Friends Art Show and Sale |

The "Four & Friends Art Show and Sale" is held annually on the second week-end of July and features better known artists as well as "emerging" artists. The invited artists (in addition to the original 4 artists) include: Theresa Baic, Jane Scott Barsanti, Jill Barich, Birgitta Bere, Ken Hagerman, Elizabeth Holmes, Gwen Keatley, Linda King, Jane Meyer, Marilyn Mills, Hugh Morrow and Diane Stewart. This year's distinguished guest is Murray Finn. Designed to recognize the accomplishments of a student graduating from the Central Algoma Secondary School art program, the "Four and Friends Art Scholarship" was started in 1997. There is a cash award that is funded by donations from visitors of the art show. The award winner is invited to show in the next year's annual event. Sylvan Circle Artist/Artisan Tour |

The Sylvan Circle Artists and Artisans invite you to spend a glorious fall day exploring the diverse artistry of our region. Visitors are welcome to discover what it means for artists and artisans to live and work in their communities. The tour is self-guided and absolutely free. The route is marked by Sylvan Circle Signs. The complete tour is approximately 100 km long and is located in seven community halls and four studios. There are 39 artists and artisans represented.
